There was also the point leading UP to that that takes place after memory 17. Where in Akako gets to go 'I will do it,' 'no, I won't, he should get captured.' Just lots of back and forth, at one point she talks to her Crystal Ball on what Hakuba is going to do to get a better idea of what she needs to do, and getting the costume together. Unfortunately some things were wrong, but you kind of get short on time when you argue with yourself.
Break Down
-I'm going to protect him!
-No, I won't.
-Yes, I will.
-Crystal ball, tell me things!
-No, I won't protect that stupid boy.
-Ugh, fine, yes I will.
-Get half the costume...
-NO, he should be caught.
-But I can't let him be capture.
-MORE STUFF FOR PREPARATIONS.
-Well, really, what would that say if I just GAVE UP? I'm totally better than that.
-La la la, let's sneak into a heist area, just ignore me, I'm not here, just headed to the roof.
-Maybe I won't even need to do anything...
-Nope, stupid boy is cornered by Hakuba, ugh YOU SHOULD HAVE LISTENED.
-Impressions, faking my voice, not things I'm good at.
-Let's be all showy~
-But brief. Gotta get out of here.

-Momentary panic, what should I do, probably some ideas involving explosions and/or burning things.
-And the lights go out and then the ropes are suddenly lax.
-Oh, probably Kaito, cool, let's fly off.
-Stole the item, protect Kaito, OVERALL PLAN WAS A SUCCESS.
-Swearing to herself she wouldn't let anyone 'capture' Kaito before she makes him her slave.
Meaning
OKAY, happened after Kaito was all genuine on the rooftop and this was...the first time I decided to protect him? Maybe? I dunno, this promise does seem like it'd be the motivation for all the other times. NO IDEA WHERE THIS IS IN HER TIMELINE OTHERWISE.
But it is rather evident she was, at least sometimes, very willing to put herself in real danger to protect Kaito. Because he won't listen to warnings. Some curiosity about how many times this happened where she actually tried to run real interference besides just creeper watcher warning.
Still, the fact she put herself in danger, when she had NO REASON TO besides protect Kaito is pretty....telling.
