Alternity 5
Multiple Alternity: Makoto, stop using karate until I have a spe-DAMN IT. (Form: Small bone disc. 1/2)
Here is what I originally wrote for my DCMK zombie story. There's gonna be some edits, but hey, stuff.
Makoto, Hakuba, and Akako all escape the airport. Most people give a wide berth to a girl with a scythe, even if there's a mass panic. Of course there wasn't just the one dude infected and other infected are becoming obvious. Hakuba hotwires a car because such laws matter less when people are eating each other. Akako pulls out a crystal ball to navigate them through a way that's clear and they manage to get out of the city and park on some nature road.
It's at THAT point Hakuba demands some sort of explanation from Akako. Makoto does too, but far more calmly because he is the chillest motherfucker. Akako says she REALLY DOESN'T KNOW. She demands to know what Hakuba's message was. 'Hakubaka, stay with Akako.' Using a number Kid uses, and Hakuba did a detective to realize what it meant. Which he is...vague on because Makoto and unsure. Akako doesn't bother because zombies and says whatever Kid was looking for is probably the cause. That this might be a divine punishment of source.
Which brings up the question of WHAT IS AKAKO.
She says she's a witch and she can predict the future and basically gives a run down of her abilities. Then she demands to know what Makoto can do, and what Hakuba can do and basically they are being all strategic until they realize they have no idea what they're gonna do now.
With nothing else to do, they decide to head to Tokyo. Where Kaito was, was unknown, but their families, and Sonoko was in Tokyo, so that was the place to go. They start driving again. Akako tries texting Kaito, but no response. She's the one who started the 'clear' plan for cell phones. Phones are silent and any sort of mass texting or communication only happens after the text.
There is some driving in silence before Akako brings up the more longterm affects of this. What they would need to do to survive, how to keep phones charged when the power goes out and hope the cell towers hold, and the like. They put together a supply list, clothes they'll need, and where they can get weapons. Hakuba suggests the police lock ups they might find.
They stop at the nearest town. It hasn't been hit yet, but there's panic and it brings up the question of how to get the police to release the guns. There's no word of 'zombies' on the news, only riots and mass madness. Akako says she'll do it because she has spells to make people ignore her and she just walks right on by everyone. :') She manages to pick up a number of guns and walks right back out.
Yet another point that magic is real. She volunteers to go get more. When it came to food and clothes...well, people were already starting to hoard things. Akako just charmed the men into giving her things. She decided not to tell Hakuba nor Makoto this, just that she got the stuff, and they moved on. She didn't bother with medicine. She would handle medicine.
They continue driving. Sticking to mountain and out of the way roads. However, as the days pass, they start noticing zombies in places outside of the cities. The new reports have changed. They're admitting it's zombies. At least the stations that are left. They hear the report Tokyo has been overrun.
They still haven't heard from Kaito, Aoko, Sonoko, or anyone.
Akako changes plans.
She can't scry specific people without one of her enchanted mirrors or orbs, so she'll need the materials for it. More than that, they needed to be prepared to FIGHT the zombies and out of the lot of them, Hakuba is the only one actually good with a gun. Akako has her spells, but she is not a combat mage.
But Akako could do something else.
She just needed samples. Zombie samples.
So they find a place in the mountains. A villa and they take refuge there. Akako sets up what she needs and they go out to collect zombies. They do and so begins the magical dissection. Hakuba...doesn't take it so well. Neither does Makoto, but he can shut off his brain better. After many zombie corpses and several days, Akako has what they need. However, more zombies are coming, having noticed their activity. They try to move on, though now there's A LOT of zombies because now they're close to another major city and they were wandering out.
It's been two weeks. They needed to stop for supplies and gas and the zombies keep coming. Akako keeps working with her dissection information to make some sort of counter for it.
Makoto keeps using karate on the zombies despite how much Akako says NOT TO. But he's bad with guns and when they get too close, instincts take over. It keeps happening for another week with Akako working. She's close to the end.
Makoto gets bit.
It's not a bad bite, but it's a bite, and people only last a few days at best. Akako is frantic in getting the spell done. They end up holing themselves up in school building because Akako needs to work, she needs to work FAST, or Makoto would turn. Hakuba has to be the primary defender as Makoto is getting weaker over time and it stresses all of their sanities.
Akako figures out the spell. Unfortunately it takes TIME to cast and they might not have enough. They try anyway. Whole big ritual that involves blood magic, magic circles, and some of the stuff Akako got from Europe.
The spell is put on Makoto.
Akako is wiped and can barely see straight, so it's up to Hakuba to watch Makoto until he wakes up. They're not sure if he's normal.
Akako can see how much the thought of shooting Makoto is messing with Hakuba, but she doesn't have the strength to do it herself.
Makoto wakes up.
And is himself.
Relief. Akako passes out. When she wakes up, she punches Makoto and says he can use his dumb karate now, just don't get his throat ripped out. Then she's hugged by Hakuba, which is a...surprise, but she goes with it because her feelings haven't been that murdered yet.
Relatively good day in zombie land.

-Down to the wire trying to design a spell to stop the infection/make a person immune.
-This is not an easy spell to do.
-But yay, it works!
-Hakuba is probably not doing well, noooo.
Meaning
WHY AREN'T KAITO AND AOKO CALLING HER BACK. Well, okay, her phone dies during the third week and more on that later.
But Kira is worried about them. And this...whole thing. She can tell Akako is shutting down her feelings. There are signs of getting attached to Makoto and Hakuba, but no definite yet. Which might be bad because this is zombie world and that is not an easy spell to do and what if they die? ):
This is going to end badly. Kira is very, very wary of how this is going to go. '-'
