Alternity 2, 3, 4

One-shot Alternity: Just A Normal Girl. (Form: A piece of knotted twine. Untie it. Non-shareable.)

The memory starts with Akako being very young and asking her mother about her father. Mother says he was a deadbeat and not to worry about him. Akako is STILL a spoiled and bratty child. Her mother is very doting and they still have money, though that's more because Akako's mother is a gold digger. Akako really does not grow up with a good opinion of men overall.

Because she's a brat, she doesn't really make that many friends. Or...any, really. None that are real. She ends up being an alpha bully of girls, but there's no real loyalty and she KNOWS it, but she decides whatever, she doesn't need anyone. Then puberty hits and a lot more boys are interested in her. But Akako doesn't really want anything to do with them unless they can DO something for her. She doesn't really cultivates the fanboys, but she is flirting a lot and manipulative.

Then her mother dies when she's eleven and she's put into the foster care system. She ends up displaced a lot because she is just a difficult child to deal with. It starts to make Akako more bitter towards the world and just miserable and it crushes her ability to connect with others more and more.

She ends up in a home in Ekoda at fourteen. Meets Kaito and Aoko and it...doesn't go well at all because Akako doesn't have her 'nice girl for everyone' facade and is just outright mean so they don't deal with any of her shit.

Until a few weeks later. She's walking home (from a very questionable place because Akako would totally be that teenage girl flirting with the older gentleman for Things) and it's late. And raining. She passes by the library on the way to her foster home and sees Aoko just waiting there and being kind of miserable and Akako decides to see what's up because really, when was one of the loud, dumb duo who run around in class ever sad? Of course as soon as Aoko realizes Akako is there, she's all smiles and says she's waiting for her dad, but he probably got caught up in work.

Akako almost walks away, but curiosity gets the better of her and she asks more questions. Finds out Aoko doesn't have a mother, her father is always busy, but it's okay because he's protecting people and generally just acts very Aoko. Eventually Kaito shows up with an umbrella, saying Nakamori called his mom and says he was caught up in work. (He kind of gives Akako a strange look, but focuses more on Aoko.) Aoko just kind of sighs and acts like it's no big deal, but Akako is ninety percent sure Aoko is really appreciative Kaito is there for her. They go and Akako just kind of stands there for a while.

From then on, Akako tries to be not as bad. She messes up A LOT, but she tries really hard to be nicer to Aoko and Kaito and eventually they both pick up this is a thing that is happening and being the friendly sort they are, help her on her way to being a better person. For a couple of years, this is pretty good! Akako starts feeling happier than she had been and connecting with people and less bitter with the world. She still has a mean streak a mile wide, but her better attributes come to light. And Kaito slowly and steadily improves her opinion of men in general, though she can still have issues with them as a gender on the whole.

Then seventeen rolls around and Kaito starts Acting Odd and Aoko is having more trouble as Nakamori gets even more into his work and it's a lot of Akako not being sure what to do. Mostly because she's unsure what the shift IS, just knows it's there, and this is all terrible.

Then the news report comes in that Kaitou Kid was captured via sleeping gas during a heist. (The same one Akako voodoo'd him originally.) And his identity would remain undisclosed because he's a minor, which is all sorts of surprising. While Akako didn't like Kid much herself, because even if Kaito was a fan, it was making Aoko more miserable, she knew enough to know he WASN'T supposed to be that young. Aoko nor Kaito came in that day.

Worried, Akako and Keiko decided to check on them because it's odd they were BOTH out. Kaito's house was empty and Aoko just goes she had a stomach ache even though it was pretty obvious that she was in MISERY. Akako puts the pieces together and asks if she knows the identity of Kid via her father.

The breakdown made it obvious what the answer was. ):

The next day, Akako goes in during visiting hours to talk to Kaito. Mostly to go what the hell was he thinking. And notices that he's kind of jittery, for Kaito, and far too smiley and she knows he's hiding so much and it's frustrating. She yells at him a lot, mostly for Aoko's behalf and makes a lot of demands of why he'd do that and he's just infuriatingly vague and kind of apologetic and kind of hints at things Akako doesn't put together until LATER.

Aoko manages to go in the next day. Keiko and Akako are waiting to give her hugs afterwards. ):

The next day, they hear a story on how Kid was found dead in his cell. Reported as suicide. Vague things suddenly click for Akako and she realizes what REALLY happened, he was murdered by the organization.

With nothing else to do, she tells Nakamori what Kaito told her and he's very much not...surprised by it. After that, she focuses more on comforting Aoko because it was all terrible. (But this time she doesn't go broken bird, she just ends up being highly overprotective friend and coddles her, but at least Aoko isn't locked away anywhere.) Aoko starts to recover a bit, but it's a slow and depressing state of affairs.

Then rumors of the Phantom Lady start to crop up, sending notes, and drawing attention, and going for large gem stones.

Eventually, Akako tells Aoko what Kaito vaguely hinted at, and what she thinks of it. She got the feeling Kaito didn't want Aoko involved, Akako decided fuck that. Eventually they both decide that if there really IS some dark organization out there, then they need to do something about it.

They start to follow along the path to join the police force. They had a friend who deserved some real justice.

-Oh, in Ekoda.
-Yyyyyyeah, kind of more overt that I am terrible and Kaito and Aoko not gonna deal with that.
-Until it's obvious Aoko is a SAD GIRL, but doesn't let her get her down and maybe Kaito is okay for a boy.

-Fine, MAYBE I CAN BE NICE TO THEM.
-MAYBE I LIKE THEM A BIT.
-Oh no, all these dere feelings when they try to help me be better.

-BE A GOOD FRIEND TO AOKO that's only reasonably overprotective.
-Phantom Lady is about....?
-HEY AOKO.
-MAYBE WE SHOULD GO TAKE DOWN THIS ORGANIZATION.
-Awwww yeah let's start training like bosses.

Thoughts
Why am I always a bitch, even without magic? And kind of terrible socially. SIIIIIGH.

Well, at least I learn that I CAN be a good friend to Aoko instead of an utter psychopath. That is...something.

Kaito is also stupid with his secrecy.

But it's strange in a way because until Kaito DID get caught, because Akako couldn't 'help' him that one time, Kira might have thought this was a really nice timeline. Yeah, okay, there's some terrible and I was a bitch, but then I got better and had friends and wasn't secretly psychotic, YAY. Except then Kaito got hit with sleeping gas without voodoo pain to wake him up. And then hints that Aoko and Akako would go off on ADVENTURES for this organization thing because they took their thing. So it was nice, but dead Kaito is UNACCEPTABLE. (And still hurts, ow.)

One-shot Alternity: A World Without Kid. (Form: A pair of handkerchiefs. One must be given to another. Both receive it. Initials appear on it afterwards. One use.)

The memory starts on the day where the predictions went from 'except one' to 'except for Kid,' which was shortly before Akako moved to Ekoda. The difference is the prediction never changes. All men would be her slave except for one and that would continue on and on. It will frustrate Akako to no end.

But without more, she never knows where else to move. She continues living in another place in Japan, far away from Ekoda. She continues about her life as is. Manipulating boys, idle, apathetic, with the only burst of passion coming in when she gets the prediction of One Boy Won't Be Her Slave.

One day one of her more frequent boy toys decides to surprise her on a date. He mistakes her love of the occult for the love of magic and takes her to a magic show. She's Very Unhappy because Akako does not like magicians with their fake magic. Because Akako is pissy, she decides to flirt with the boy on the other side of her. Except the boy is an utter magician fanboy and he talks about how awesome the magician is and how there's supposed to be a surprise in this show. Akako gripes and tries to change the subject and the boy wonders why she's grumpy and she finally says she hates how fake it is and she's wondering why he's not moving to her whims as much.

He makes a bet that he could change her mind. She rolls her eyes and scoffs about it.

The show starts. The magician comes on stage and announces he will have a special guest. Except he's gone and a spotlight searches for him and it lands on the boy Akako had been talking too. He stands up, apologizes, and disappears in a puff of smoke. He's on the stage, far quicker than he should be, and Akako is kind of flummoxed for a moment because she didn't see how he did that without running by anyone.

It bugs her. So she watches because now she's been challenged and she was GOING TO FIGURE OUT THE MAGICIAN'S TRICKS.

The boy who sat beside her was Kuroba Kaito. He was performing with his father, Kuroba Toichi.

She even gets dragged onto the stage, in Kaito's attempt to 'change her mind,' for his own personal section of the show. She gets her card chosen, coins appearing in a bowl of water in her hands, and all stuff that are simple enough for her to figure out. When asked what she thinks about magic, she just yawns and asks if she can go to her seat. He lets her go with an over the top sigh and she goes back to her seat in a huff.

Then Kaito slaps his forehead and declares he knows why Akako was unhappy. How could he not give such a beautiful lady flowers? He pulls out a card and throws it to her. She catches it, admittedly a bit impressed he got it all the way to her. Then it bursts into a bouquet of white carnations and doves, which...she didn't figure out how he did.

After the show he approaches her again and asks her about the state of the bet. She says she still doesn't like his fake magic. He just SIGHS and says it's a shame. When she asks about what he means, he says it's a pity that a girl is encasing such a pure gem in so much ice that she doesn't see the real magic. It leaves her bewildered.

She ends up going to every one of Toichi's shows in that area, trying to figure out this kid and eventually deciding to see if she could break him of his love of magic. Which...she doesn't. Keeps trying, it doesn't work, but he never gets mad, and just kind of seems to pity her a bit because unlike the fanboys, Kaito can pick up there's something very cynical and sad in Akako.

But Toichi moves on to another town and Akako is just sitting at home and it BUGS HER. Because now she had been getting passionate about something, trying to get to this boy and trying to understand him and FAILING. Theeeeen she uses his name to find out his school and decides to move to Ekoda. Because Akako is always sane like that and why not, she has nothing better to do. Her introduction is less over the top since its waaaay past Valentines Day and she just has some boys following her. She acts all surprised when she sees him in class and he just grins because now he'd definitely change her mind.

He tries, she's being all STICKLER about it, still trying to seduce him, but it never quite works, but he still kind of flirts when he does magic, so she doesn't think it's NOT WORKING, so it's a lot of ???. Eventually she changes tactics by going after Aoko because maybe Aoko is the distraction, but Aoko goes and Aokos and suddenly Akako has Aoko dere. This continues on for a few more weeks until Akako just kind of gets fed up with it and essentially drags Kaito on a date. Without really calling it a date at first, just sort of demanding him to come with her to go shopping and showing up at his house. (His mom may have thrown him out because Chikage would totally troll.) When the word date IS brought up, Kaito is pretty surprised. Akako puts the moves on him and even tries to kiss him.

Kaito refuses. Stops her from kissing him and saying he doesn't feel that way.

It's at this point it finally clicks that Kaito IS NOT AFFECTED AT ALL. She checks that night and yep, now that she has his name, she can confirm that it's him. Which means all of their friendshipping is ALL GENUINE on Kaito's part and it kind of hits Akako like a bag of bricks. There were months of honest affection and someone liking her and its like...how.

She has a bit of a crisis. Skips school until Friday and even then misses the first half the day. She approaches Kaito at the end of the day and asks him to meet her the next day. He says he doesn't want to go on another date and Akako says it's not a date. She's going to show him real magic. And then leaves without explaining anything.

He meets her outside the forest where her house is, kind of intrigued and Akako leads him in. Doesn't really say anything, which should be unnerving, but Kaito wouldn't show any of that, so it's just a lot of tense walking. Probably some comments on how this would be perfect for a horror movie when he figures out they're going to Akako's house.

When they get their, Kaito finds his body is paralyzed with a magic circle. It's then he panics a little bit, Akako reveals she's a witch, and kind of goes on how she's supposed to rule all men, but Kaito is the exception. He could deny her. That isn't allowed.

She decided to kill him. He got too close without her noticing, he was too much of a threat, and she makes this clear to him as she grabs a scythe. It's then Kaito calms down, gets the pokerface in gear, because Kaito knows Akako by now and has a pretty good read on her and her rant probably explained what he didn't get. She gets ready to kill him, he's staring calmly. She hesitates.

He asks why she doesn't do it.

She snaps at him she will and she doesn't have to answer to him. He says she won't. She says she will. He asks if she really wants to.

She doesn't answer.

He asks her if she was really unhappy with just having him as a friend.

She still doesn't answer.

He asks her if she was really happier when her heart was encased in ice.

She snaps it still is.

He says it hasn't been and it was a shame she was trying to freeze something so beautiful.

It startles her enough that she almost steps back, aborts the movement, but it drags her foot on the circle, breaking it. Kaito can move and in a flash, he's gone in a puff of smoke. She calls for him, but of course he doesn't answer. Then she just...drops the scythe and goes inside.

She fully expects him to call the police. He doesn't really need to bring up the circle paralyzing him, just her going for him with a scythe. Sunday comes and goes, no police. She decides that maybe it would be at school and she decides to go. When she walks out her front door, there is snow EVERYWHERE. She's kind of shocked because it's spring. She walks out into it, when suddenly cards fly out of the trees to her.

"One."

"Two."

"Three."

As she picks up the third card, there is suddenly a rush of AIR and HEAT and when she can open her eyes, the snow is gone and there's just white carnations EVERYWHERE. And a final card.

"Aoko was worried after you were gone all week. She's going to lecture you about your health if you're late."

Akako goes to school. Both her and Kaito go on like everything is normal, Akako listens to Aoko worrying about her health, and it's like nothing happened.

At the end of the school day, she stops Kaito.

"Maybe your magic isn't so fake after all."

Break Down
-Kid does not exist in this world apparently.
-Kaito being immune is still a thing.
-God, stupid boy taking me to a magic show, I DON'T LIKE MAGICIANS. >T
-Magician is Kaito's dad, who is not dead, and Kaito is performing with him that night.
-After trolling Akako in the audience a bit first.
-Takes her as a personal challenge to show her how awesome stage magic is.
-Fails because Akako is a cynic.
-Does not pick up on his immunity, but is a challenge, so she stalks him anyway!
-Trying to shake his faith in magic, does not work.
-Tries to be a bitch at Aoko. Still does not work.
-Gets frustrated, forces him on a date.
-Finally realizes after weeks that HE IS THE IMMUNE ONE
-Llllllllet's try to kill him after a crisis.
-Reveal magic is real, go on a villain rant.
-Kaito poker faces hard and shakes Akako's own self assurance.
-ESCAPES.
-Akako accepts she might get arrest.
-Doesn't happen.
-SUDDENLY SNOW IN HER YARD.
-Cheesy card.
-SUDDENLY SNOW INTO FLOWERS.
-Kaito saying Aoko will worry if Akako doesn't come to school.
-Goes to school
-FINE OKAY MAYBE YOU ARE KIND OF MAGICAL KUROBA KAITO
-And maybe I will just listen to your magic now.

Thoughts
WHY IS MY GO TO OPTION FOR KAITO BEING IMMUNE IS TO MURDER HIM.

A-and even without Kid, Kaito is badass and still has this way of KNOWING people. And he gets all my doki dokis.

But it's all strangely nice in a way? Like part of why Kaito would HAVE to be quiet about Akako is the Kid thing, but that's not something here. And before she went psycho on him, they WERE friends, so it was also kind of nice? Sure it was snarky friends, but still. She was interested in Kaito because of how he was acting, not because of his immunity, which was also nice. Just something she likes about KAITO HIMSELF.

It's also reassuring to know she still wouldn't kill him so easily in another world timeline maybe real thing.

Also Kaito seems so much more happier and genuine with his father around, so it's kind of sad he's not.

Multiple Alternity: I just wanted to go shopping in Europe. That's all! (Form: A candy pencil in Kunzite. Break into three pieces neatly. 1/3)

True facts, if Sair is in a fandom long enough, she will make ridiculous zombie AUs.

For Akako, things start out normally enough. There's just a few weeks of normal things happening. Kaito does his thing, she hangs with Aoko, starts talking with Hakuba on and off, all casual like because she wants to be able to manipulate him for Kaito's advantage. Then one day she's doing inventory and notices she's getting low on things. Later on, she finds out Hakuba is going to England for two weeks and there is some Good Stuff in Europe, including things she's missing. So she decides to kill a few birds with one stone. First, she gets to know Hakuba a bit more. Second, she can resupply herself. Third, if she's with a detective then it's even EASIER to get her through customs when his presence is combined with her magic.

So she asks him to tea, slips a little something something to make him more suggestible, and woo, they go off to Europe for two weeks and it's a nice trip. Flustered the detective, got some good finds, all in all it's wonderful. She figured it'd be fine because she even ASKED what Kaito's fortune was for the next little while and the demons didn't give her anything dire. She checked if there was anything magical about the comet that would be going by, and they said nothing. It was all fine. Eventually they go back to Japan, Akako with three more suitcases then she left, and get back without incident.

Then she turned on her phone when they were off the plane with a text message from Kaito from a number Kid used when he wanted to troll the police.

'Akako,

Yes, I am him.

There is a zombie outbreak.

No, I am not kidding. It had to do with the comet.

Do me a favor and keep an eye on the idiot detective.'

And Akako knows it's real because Kaito NEVER says he's Kid, and he doesn't play cruel jokes, and it kind of freaks out Akako. She sends Hakuba to get the bags, where he will receive his message. In the meantime, Akako is pulling up magic that basically works as 'quick, I need a thing done, what boy can do that' because she believes Kaito. And watches enough horror to know how quickly things will go badly.

She's also freaked out because she didn't know. Being Kaito's stalker, she realized he was looking for a magic stone, and the fact it had to do with the comet cinches it. Yet the demons didn't tell her anything would happen, which SHOULDN'T be possible. Even if it was a thing the demons wanted to happen, they would just tell her not to get involved. Not let her be blindsided.

Unless...the magic thing was divine magic.

Akako believes this is a divine punishment, Kaito is in the middle of it, and they are in an airport and hospitals and any places of mass transit are horrible to be in zombie outbreaks.

The spell leads her to Makoto Kyogoku. (Sonoko's boyfriend and karate master.) Then drags him off to Hakuba to the confusion of Hakuba and slight bit on Makoto. (But Makoto is a chill and strange dude, so he rolls with it.) There are haphazard introductions, Akako confirming Hakuba got a message, then ordering people around, and Makoto not being affected by charm as much as Akako would like because he has such major Doki Dokis for Sonoko.

It was during that someone runs screaming out of the bathroom about their brother getting eaten and then the two zombies stumble out of the bathroom, and panic ensues.

At that point, Akako decides 'fuck it' and starts using magic, activating hammerspace type spell in one of her bags to throw her luggage in and pull out a scythe that wouldn't fit in there to confirm for the boys that things were going to lose all sense of reason. Then Akako proceeds to drag the boys with her as they make their escape.

-Drug Hakuba to go with him on a trip back to England so she can shop in Europe
-Check on Kaito fortunes
-Check on anything magical about this comet
-NOPE NOTHING OF NOTE
-NICE EUROPE TRIP
-NICE PLANE TRIP
-ALL NICE AND AWESOME
-Oh wait text from Kaito
-Aaaaaaand there are zombies now
-WELP
-Mild panic attack because the only thing that she shouldn't have known about was divine punishment
-Seriously when gods are involved shit is truly fucked
-Use a spell to find a boy to meet my needs and find Makoto
-Hakuba got a message from Kaito too!
-Yep, shit is truly fucked
-Trying to convince Makoto to come with him and some arguing
-AND NOW THE ZOMBIES ARE IN THE AIRPORT
-Hammerspace spells
-Carry my luggage Hakuba we are going to be making a run for it
-EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE

So Akako doesn't know what Kaito was ever actually AFTER, but KIRA does. Which is a magic stone that is supposed to grant immortality. So yeah, Kira is gonna take a wild guess at WHY THERE ARE ZOMBIES AND WHY KAITO IS INVOLVED.

Which is pretty damn horrifying. Because Kira suspects alternities are possibly other timeline worlds that got swallowed by the Darkness. The actions of the people involved are plausible. These could literally be real timelines. So it makes her wonder how relevant information in one world might be in another.

In short, Kira thinks it's veeeeery possible their Pandora could make zombies if Kaito doesn't find it first. :')
